I have been utilizing Excellent Cleaners of Mira Mesa since 2017! I was first introduced to them through my employer located in Sorrento Valley. Pre-pandemic of 2020 they used to do pick ups and drop offs for dry cleaning services at my employer's headquarters. Through the pick up service they gave me my own laundry bag that I still use to this day for any drop offs. I recall when I accidentally had a new 6 pack of Kleenex boxes in the dry cleaning bag in addition to the dirty clothes, and when they returned the clothes back to my workplace dry cleaned the pack of Kleenex boxes were also included safe and sound (lol).
Even though my employer has transitioned to remote work I still choose to go to Excellent Cleaners for all my dry clean needs! Thankfully I'm still local as a resident within the UTC area and the small commute to their location is worth it for me.
They have cleaned thick comforters, suits, tuxedos, small dresses, gowns, long dresses, blouses, and costumes for me for so many years! More recently I've had a couple of Selkie dresses and skirts cleaned by them as well. They always do a great job. I trust them with all I own!
The owner Mel was particularly helpful when my bank/credit card mistakenly double charged me for my most recent visit to Excellent Cleaners. When I realized the banking transaction mistake a few days later via phone Mel was patient and helpful as he looked through their system to confirm that only one transaction was processed. A couple of weeks later my bank said they needed written communication to help them process the dispute of the duplicate charge; and after calling Excellent Cleaners once more for the same issue, Mel was quick to email me exactly what I needed. I am so grateful for Mel's integrity and customer service!

I've given a 1 rating but would give a 0 if I could. It only takes one incident to change a person's perspective of a business and their practices. Sadly I have been patronizing this dry cleaners for 22 years, almost as long as they have been open. I drive by several dry cleaners and it used to be their loyalty discount that kept me going back to Excellent Cleaners.
There is a fine line when it comes to professionalism and customer service. During the pandemic I still took my clothes to the cleaners even my sweats. I would think I'm a valued customer. I have been a loyal customer and I thought they considered me as such. Over the course of the years they have ruined my garments, and unlike the other reviews I have read where they supposedly took responsibility, they always made me feel like it wasn't their fault when they would damage my garment. One example is a sweater and another occasion it was a suede jacket. They didn't want to reimburse me but only give me credit for future dry cleaning. I feel I could have a made this an issue but I thought I liked them and I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that mistakes happen.
Recently, I was in for a pickup and drop off. I noticed a young girl working the front counter, provided my phone number and mentioned "you're new, are you the daughter?" She replies "yes". I say "I'm (name given)" and she sarcastically replies "I know who you are". It caught me off guard that a young person in a place of business, and remember I'm the customer, could be so unprofessional and rude. I mentioned to her father, Melvin, who is the owner, "what did she mean by that?" He remarks "because you can be a pain in the butt!" He laughs, we laugh, but it didn't make me feel valued as a customer.
I don't know about anyone else but after I laughed it off, because I was so taken back by the comment, I got in my car and couldn't believe how I was just treated. I was saddened that this is what they think of me after 22 years of me bringing my clothes in weekly (even my family) and get treated with such disrespect. It has taken me 3 weeks to go back to mention my disappointment and I was further disappointed.
Today I was met with the other owner, the wife, Janeth. I mentioned the unfortunate situation that transpired with her daughter and Melvin and I was told, as she somewhat laughed and had a smug look on her face, that I could take it up with Melvin (her husband). She proceeds to tell me when he will be in next but I'm not interested in talking to Melvin unfortunately. At this point she missed an opportunity to apologize on behalf of her business and family. I understand she wasn't there, however, I am a the customer that just expressed my disappointment. After 22 years of patronizing their business I expected a more gracious response. But I received nothing, other than "take it up with Melvin". It's insensitive and disappointing.

This was the rudest place I've been to. The prices are so high just to press something.
Every person quotes you a different price.
So expensive....
The owner had the nerve to respond and claim it was my fault that they are inconsistent. I don't have a military uniform and never asked for creases...worst customer service.
You as the owner should know that a consistent price is key.

Hello. Press only uniform shirts with military creases are $4.75 (includes, marine, sdpd, sheriff, navy, first responders, tsa, security) All dry cleaners vary in prices based on our equipment and other products needed. The person who charged you less didn't realize you had military creases yet we still honored the price given as that was an error on our behalf and we even creased your shirts. However we reviewed our footage and our staff stayed professional while being told we suck based on our high prices and simply refused to accept the items you were trying to drop off. We thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback.

QUICK!!! Professional, affordable, and friendly. Had a great drop off and pick up experience. Clothes were next-day ready. Flexible pick up time frame too -- no late pick up fees or anything. Easy parking, the lot gets pretty busy but I never have issues finding a spot. Located next to UPS, food, and an Asian grocery store. My friend recommended this place to me and I would recommend it to anyone else that needs dry cleaning services as well! Thanks for easing the anxiety regarding trusting someone else with my clothes!

I took my husbands pants that had a huge coffee on its back. They were honest that they can't promise stain removal but they were able to get it out! You couldn't even tell their had Ben a stain before.

So bummed. I took two nice jackets to be cleaned and upon return, they smell terrible. As if they were not dried correctly? Moldy? So upset. As soon as I took them out of the bag, the smell was terrible. Now to take them to another place. So upset.

I stepped right by the door at 6:59 pm, and the curly haired, toung girl closed the door on me. I told her I drove all the way from Escondido and that it's not even 7 yet. Yes, it became as she argued back and forth telling me its 7. I told her, I'm just here to pick up. She said I closed the computers already but why would you close them before 7pm? If you advertise closing time at 7. Seems like she was ready to run out and didn't care. Customer service with the owner Melvin was so much better here until now. I've been a customer for 8 years even after I moved 35 mins away. This is my last draw to take my business else where due to the lack of customer service here numerous occasions. Great lesson, to never leave your business to some kids who will run it down!

I trusted Excellent Cleaners to clean and preserve my precious wedding dress and they sure came through! My dress was sitting in a plastic tub for 7 months as the holidays, Covid, and work came. I finally had time to bring it in.. The end result was even brighter than my wedding day!
This is the third time I have been here. The first two times Mel delivered my dresses to my home during my busy work schedules when I couldn't pick them up. Super friendly and gets the job done! They raised their prices but it's fair considering life is expensive~ I drive from 25-30 mins away but that's a choice I made for quality work!

I needed tablecloths pressed within a tight window and this team made it happen! They did a great job and provide amazing service (I came back after loading the car to tell them I loved them) . Great business and I highly recommend them!
