This is a fairly large Mozzers at the arse end of the Gyle. I mean, it's well stocked and the staff are cheerful enough but it does feel depressingly empty in the aisles near the back.

Since it used to be a Safeway a very long time ago, it still has that 70s dated charm to it but in here it doesn't really work well and it just comes across as run down.

There is a cafe at the front which just looked like a standard supermarket cafeteria but the toilets next to it were stinking. Not to mention that they are horrid and small.

At least they have a family butcher, a bakery, a pizza counter and a deli along the back wall which makes up for the run down feel of the place.

But the place always feels dead because everyone that shops in the Gyle is off at the other end doing their grocery shop at the epic M&S superstore and not here in the dingy Morrisons.

I will only be in here if Starbucks, Costa and the M&S Café are full. If they give it a state of the art refurbishment, I will return.

If these supermarkets see the future as all customers using self service checkouts, as appears to be the case with more and more of these individual scanning stations being installed, then please, please, please make these things work! I spent 10 minutes today trying to pay for 6 items where every time I scanned an item the system went on hold until a customer service employee came over to over-ride the system.

Poor customer service, poor customer experience, not good enough.

This branch of Morrisons is located in the Gyle Shopping Centre and is one of the two anchor stores there, the other being Marks & Spencer.

It is a very useful branch of Morrisons I find - I can do lots of shopping in other stores and finish off with my weekly shop here.

There is plenty of parking and the store is large. At the front there is a dry cleaning stand, and also a cafe. I am a big fan of Morrison's cafes but be warned, this one can get particularly busy at peak periods and you may have to wait a while for hot food.

The store itself has an excellent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables at the entrance and as you wander round you will find a great choice of grocery items on offer and a butcher, fishmonger and pie counter.

This store has a fairly decent selection of non-food items too, including a dedicated section for games, CDs and DVDs, along with a large magazine and book section.

There is also a fairly decent selection of homeware available here including bed linens, small domestic appliances such as irons and kettles, cooking utensils and crockery.

This Morrisons also has a petrol station and is well worth a visit if you are shopping at the Gyle Centre in Edinburgh.

This branch of Morrisons, forming part of the Gyle Shopping Centre, is a large store with a huge range of goods and a decent range of services including a dry cleaners / photo shop, kiosk and cafe. There are always a large number of offers in store although as the store is busy these are often sold out. The store has an excellent range of fruit and veg as well as non-food goods and household items. A perfect place for your weekly shop if you wish to count the pennies.
The cafe is very reasonably priced although can be busy, with long queues stretching far beyond the counter - there is only ever one member of staff taking money and occasionally they are quite slow due to an over-complicated system (they also take hot food orders, which should in an ideal world be taken at the 'Hot Food Orders' point nearer the cafe's entrance). The hot food can take a long time to arrive - it's quite common for those of us who order a hot drink with our food to have finished the drink a long time before the food arrives. Overall though the price really does make up for the shortcomings!
