L'avis 5 étoiles de Susan
O.M.G. I think I've died and gone to heaven...meat heaven. This place was amazeballs!
A while back, I signed up for their email club and for my birthday, they sent a buy-one-get-one coupon. I've never been to Texas de Brazil before (have been to one other Brazilian Steakhouse years ago) so this was the perfect opportunity to try something new. I don't care if this is a chain restaurant, it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Everything I ate was delicious!
I made a reservation, which I strongly suggest even during the week...this place was packed for a Wednesday night. We were seated at the table that is right next to the plates at the salad bar. At first I thought it was going to be a bad spot but it turned out to be pretty good. We were near the kitchen so we always got meats right away.
When we were first seated, our server came over and started explaining what to expect/do. It was a bit hard to hear him because the place was loud. He was explaining wine specials and being a visual person, I asked to see the drink menu. Now, I'm not sure if a drink menu really exists because he brought over this huge, leather bound book. Maybe that was the menu for customers but it seemed like something they would use for reference. Anyways, I ended up getting a Brazilian Kiss martini which was delish!
Next stop, salad bar. I was expecting this to be much bigger, but it was still nice for what it offered. I ended up having a salad (the ranch dressing is amazing and so is the Brazilian dressing), some roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella and some 'shrooms for the meat. The table also gets a basket of fresh, warm cheesy bread (heavenly), mashed potatoes and sweet fried bananas to accompany the meat. The bananas are for you to cleanse your palate between meats. We ate the bananas to cleanse our palate and to just eat them...they were so good. They are actually a great substitute for a dessert!
Now the meats...this is where it gets good! The guys who bring out the meats (we coined them meat pirates because of their gaucho pants) are so on the ball. The second you turn your card over, someone is showing up with meat. And it never stops. You are forced to turn the card to red because if you don't, you will be drowning in meat. We were told there were 14 cuts, I think I only had 6 or so. My favorite was the garlic sirloin, followed by the bacon wrapped filet, bacon wrapped chicken and the ribs. I liked how you were able to choose if you wanted a piece that was medium, medium well, well, etc. I tend to like my meat cooked medium well/well so it was nice to have that option. I wish I could have tried more but I was getting physically ill from eating so much. I never even made it back to the salad bar for seconds. We also passed on dessert because we were so full, and besides, we had those sweet bananas!
As I'm writing this, I'm daydreaming about the meat. I want to go back...tonight!
Definitely sign up for their emails...the birthday offer is one of the best that I've seen and made our night out very affordable!
